Texter utility blocks drag n drop – Goodbye Texter

For a big period of time I ‘m using  a great free utility for string replacements, the lifehacker’s Texter. This utility is very simple and works great for string replacements while the user is typing on any program under windows. Using this little tool I can fill easily forms on the web and write automated texts on my emails rapidly.

Everything is great except a strange behaviour on (all) my computers after a while. Texter seems to dominate my system without any particular reason :( . When I’m trying to drag n drop something, an icon on the desktop, a file in windows explorer, even when I’m trying to move controls on visual studio development environment, the system doesn’t obey to this simple and so helpful windows function. I can’t either move a desktop icon  to another location in the desktop! I’m forced to copy and paste in its new position on the desktop to do this.

The strange is that closing Texter is not solving the problem (only restart can fixit it…), but removing this little (and helpful indeed) utilty from my startup program drag n drop works flawless.

It took me lot of time searching for what is going wrong to my computer (cause the problem insists even when the utility is closed) until I tried to install this utility to my new netbook and bang! drag n drop went out of order.

Now I’m looking for alternatives, PhraseExpress seems to be a good solution and is offered free for personal use. In addition offers rule insertion from texter so it seems to be good solution on my problem.

Goodbye Texter (I still looking forward for a fix in a future version).
